The mission of the Environmental Policy Institute is to develop national environmental policies that protect our environment, promote good health, enhance economic opportunities and develop sustainable communities. This event launches the Environmental Policy Lecture Series to bring a variety of environmental policy experts to the campus of South Carolina State University to share their knowledge and experiences.
This inaugural lecture will feature Governor Brian Schweitzer, who will speak on reducing our reliance on foreign fuel. In his first year as Chief Executive of Montana, Governor Schweitzer has become nationally recognized for his unabashed advocacy of alternative fuels. He has been featured on 60 Minutes (CBS News) touting his ideas for weaning our nation off foreign oil. His down home sense of humor and no nonsense approach bring a fresh perspective to this highly important issue.
