Firm with Upstate/SC Ties Brings New Nano Testing Technology to the Region
MVA Scientific Consultants, a Firm with clients and ties to South Carolina, has been designated as the US Demonstration and Support Site for The NanoTest™ -- a groundbreaking Nano testing technology developed by UK based Micro Materials Ltd. The announcement was officially made during a recent press conference and welcome brunch in Atlanta, Georgia. Representatives from the British Consulate in Atlanta, as well as over 20 regional technology leaders turned out for the announcement.
The Nano Test™ is the first commercial instrument used for quantitative materials characterization at the nano-scale level--about 100,000th the width of a human hair.
“As many industries, begin to manufacture and utilize smaller materials, there will be an increasing need for tools that can measure the quality of those materials at the nano-scale level”, states Tony Cooper, Director of Marketing & Communications at MVA Scientific Consultants. “We believe The Nano TestTM will have a big impact in this area especially for our manufacturing and automotive engineering clients in the region,” said Cooper.
MVA Scientific Consultants hopes to utilize the new technology to support the QA/QC and R&D projects of its clients, many of whom are located in South Carolina. Over the years the Firm has served companies such as Santee Cooper, BMW Manufacturing, Davis & Floyd, Fuji Film, Goodrich Corporation, Lockheed-Martin Aircraft, Milliken, Sonoco Products and several others. In addition the Firm boasts strong personal roots to the Palmetto State. Tim Vander Wood, co-founder and Executive Director of MVA Scientific Consultants is a native of Greenville; Senior Research Scientist Randy Boltin is from Columbia and Tony Cooper, the Firm’s Director of Marketing and Communications, hails from Darlington.
“We’re providing the facilities and staff for the instrument, and Micro Materials is providing us with the instrument,” says Tim Vander Wood, co-founder and Executive director of MVA Scientific Consultants. “A series of seminars and demonstrations will be scheduled to introduce the cutting-edge technology to industry leaders across the country,” says Vander Wood.
