We'll have very interesting presentations on March 28th describing how to create communities of innovation around major economic anchors in our region. These organizations will discuss where they are today, where they would like to be in the future, and what resources will be required to get there. What talent will they need? What innovations need to be invented or acquired? What companies can be recruited close to these facilities? What opportunities are there for entrepreneurial companies to form around these facilities? The organizations that have committed to present are:

* Carolina MicroOptics Triangle
* Clemson International Center for Automotive Research
* Michelin Americas Research and Development Corporation
* Oak Ridge National Laboratory
* Savannah River National Laboratory
* University of South Carolina

CIO Roundtable
Concurrent with the Communities of Innovation presentations, CIOs in major organizations, who will be announced soon, will participate in a CIO Roundtable discussion of four topics:

* Developing IT Management
* Attracting and Retaining Best and Brightest Talent

Innovation, Venture and Invention Hall
March 29th will feature the Innovation, Venture and Invention Halls.

The Innovation Hall will feature innovation displays by major business, university, and government facilities, as well as by entrepreneurial and technology support organizations. In addition to the organizations listed above making Communities of Innovation presentations, some of the other organizations that will display include Fuji Photo, AFL Telecommunications, several other research facilities are Clemson and USC, the Furman Rushing Center, ThinkTEC and the FastTrac program, the Clemson Spiro Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and the SCRA Innovation Centers. We anticipate confirming numerous others over the next few weeks. Sponsors will also have displays, such as the SC Department of Commerce and Elliott Davis.

The Venture Hall will have presentations by emerging companies to potential investors, and the Invention Hall will have presentations by inventors and partners to potential business partners. We have received 30 applications to present from attractive companies and those with compelling ideas, and we will have a good line-up of quality presentations. Our goal is to put on the best program possible. There is still room for quality presenters if you contact us ASAP so that can work you into the selection and coaching process.
