Clemson Apparel Research
Commissioned in the US Army Quartermaster Corps in 1968, Bill Kernodle served
in key logistical positions in combat units around the world and in key
clothing and textile research and procurement assignments including Commander,
U.S. Army Natick Research, Development, and Engineering Center, and Director,
Clothing and Textiles Directorate, Defense Personnel Support Center. He was
Director of Operations and Planning for Burlington Menswear (a division of
Burlington Industries) before joining Clemson University. Since 1995 he has
been Site Director, Clemson Apparel Research with responsibilities for running
a model apparel factory and locating, developing, integrating, and
demonstrating the world's most advanced manufacturing and supply chain
technologies and management practices.
Mr. Kernodle will lead a roundtable discussion of the challenges and keys to
successful execution of synchronized supply chain.

Directions from Interstate 85 to CAR
From Interstate 85 take Exit 19 toward Clemson on Highway 76. In about 5.5
miles and shortly after the 4th traffic light at Highway 187, take a right onto
Westinghouse Road. Westinghouse is a small road only to the right just before
you reach the Spinx gas station on the left. There are small University signs
at the turn.
Turn left at the end of Westinghouse Road and we are in the far end of the
second building on the left. Directions from Greenville via Highway 123 to CAR
From Highway 123 exit left toward Pendleton at the Central – Pendleton exit on
Eighteen Mile Road. Take a right when this road ends at Highway 88.
At the first stop sign (in Pendleton) take a right, cross the railroad bridge
and take the first left passing Nick's Restaurant.
Take the next left onto the street that becomes Lebanon Road after the sharp
curve to the right. CAR is less than one mile on the right just past the ball
fields. Enter the first gate.
Directions from Clemson via Highway 76 to CAR
From Clemson take Highway 76 South toward I - 85 and Anderson. After passing
the stop light at Tri-County Technical College on the left and the next stop
light at the shopping center, watch for the Spinx gas station on the right.
Turn left just past the Spinx station onto Westinghouse Road. Westinghouse is a
small road only to the left. There are small university signs at the turn. Turn
left at the end of Westinghouse Road and we are in the far end of the second
building on the left.
