National Lab Group with SC Division
Announce Strategic Alliance with GA Firm

Orlando, FL June 29, 2006-A strategic alliance has been announced by Georgia's MVA Scientific Consultants and Microbac Laboratories Inc., a national laboratory group that serves industrial and manufacturing clients in South Carolina through its division headquartered in Aiken. The two companies made the announcement earlier this week at a press conference for industry media at the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) 2006 Conference and Food Expo in Orlando. IFT is the premiere international forum for food industry professionals to share, explore, and connect.

As part of the alliance, Microbac will serve as MVA Scientific Consultants' Preferred Provider of microbiological and chemical analysis for food, environmental and other samples. MVA Scientific Consultants will serve as Microbac's Preferred Provider of Forensic Food Microscopy and other microanalytical services. Microscopy is the practice of utilizing powerful microscopes to study objects too small to see with the unaided eye. Microscopy is considered to be one of the most powerful tools for studying unknown materials, particles and contaminants in the environment and in products like food.

"Environmental concerns, legal and regulatory issues, increased product quality, packaging and customer expectations are just some of the challenges facing the Food & Beverage industry", says Richard S. Brown, Executive Director at MVA Scientific Consultants. "Our alliance with Microbac offers a compelling menu of solutions to help meet some of these challenges," Brown said.

The alliance is the first of its kind that Microbac has undertaken and will involve the participation of all of its laboratory operations across the country. "This strategic alliance represents a significant upgrade in our offerings in the area of electron and light microscopy to our current and prospective clients in the wide range of industries in which we serve," says Tom Zierenberg, Corporate Marketing and Business Development, Microbac Laboratories, Inc.

MVA Scientific Consultants has served many clients in the Palmetto State including Santee Cooper, BMW Manufacturing, Davis & Floyd, Lockheed-Martin Aircraft, Milliken, and several others. Additionally the Firm boasts strong personal roots to the state: co-founder and Executive Director Dr. Tim B. Vander Wood is a native of Greenville; Senior Research Scientist Randy Boltin is from Columbia and Marketer, Tony Cooper, who helped to broker the alliance, hails from Darlington.

"Microbac and MVA Scientific Consultants both recognize that scientific leadership is about vision, innovation, and a commitment to excellence," says Tony Cooper. "This alliance further solidifies the leadership positions of both companies, especially here in the Carolinas," Cooper concluded.
