New Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship

New Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurial efforts in South Carolina are getting a boost from Upstate
educational leaders.

Graduate students in science and engineering disciplines now have the
opportunity to earn a Certificate in Technology Entrepreneurship through the
Spiro Center. For the past few years, the pilot-tested Technology
Entrepreneurship course drew an excellent class of science and engineering
students, and this certificate program will allow grad students from those
majors to gain a more thorough understanding of issues related to
commercializing technologies through the formation of new ventures.

The Technology Entrepreneurship certificate is intended specifically to serve
graduate students in technical disciplines who envision an entrepreneurial
career as their long range career goal, who want to be involved in new product
and new business activities within a corporate setting, or who seek a better
understanding of the process of commercializing inventions. The requirements
for the certificate are 9 credit hours including: ELE 600 (Technology
Entrepreneurship); ELE 800 (Selected Topics in Technology Entrepreneurship) and
a choice of: additional sections of ELE 800, MBA 845 (Technology and Innovation
Management), or MBA 875 (Enterprise Development).
