Appalachian Regional Healthcare signs contract with HealthPort for Revenue Cycle Management System

COLUMBIA, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HealthPort, a leading health information management and technology company, contracts with Appalachian Regional Healthcare System to supply three North Carolina hospitals with HealthPort RCM, the company’s automated revenue cycle management solution.

HealthPort will first deploy their revenue cycle management (RCM) system at Watauga Medical Center, the largest of Appalachian Regional Healthcare’s three facilities, and then deploy the system at their other two locations. Once started, the entire process will take less than 90 days to implement.

Appalachian Regional Healthcare was impressed with the automated processes and 15-minute claims processing times that HealthPort’s revenue cycle management application offers. Once in place, Appalachian Regional will have an enterprise wide RCM system for all three of their facilities.

Another benefit Appalachian Regional Healthcare is looking forward to is the ability to process automated secondary claims and the reduction of accounts receivable days. In the Appalachian region, patients subscribe to a wide variety of insurance companies, which can make it difficult for healthcare facilities to process claims.
