Tom Rogers Named Ashby Ward Pioneer Of The Year Award Recipient

FLORENCE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tom Rogers, President of ACS Technologies, was recently named the 2008 Ashby Ward Pioneer of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

Given in honor of the former president and CEO of the chamber, Ashby Ward, the Pioneer of the Year award was established to recognize individuals who have had a significant, positive impact on the Myrtle Beach area.

Rogers’ forty-year career spans several industries. From 1966-1999, he owned and led the Grand Strand Broadcasting Company, his principal broadcasting business venture. Rogers was also one of the founders of the Strand Media Group, publisher of Grand Strand magazine. Rogers was a founding director for The Anchor Bank and formerly served on the board of directors for The South Financial Group (Carolina First Bank).

He served as the chairman of the board for the Council of Myrtle Beach Organizations in addition to serving as president of the Grand Strand Press Association, Myrtle Beach Rotary Club, the South Carolina Broadcasters Association, and treasurer for the Myrtle Beach Area Junior Golf Association. Past honors include the 2002 South Carolina Small Business Persons of the Year award, and the 2006 Order of the Palmetto award, which is the state’s highest civilian honor.

In 1978, he was one of the original shareholders and director of ACS Technologies, which he continues to serve today as president. The company provides over 50,000 faith-based organizations with technology solutions to meet their membership and financial data information needs.
