NuVox Communications Names Paul Pitts Senior Vice President of Operations

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2001--NuVox Communications, a rapidly
growing, facilities-based integrated communications and applications services
provider, announced today that Paul Pitts has been named Senior Vice President
of Operations for the company.
In his new role, Pitts will have responsibility for Customer Care, Service
Delivery, Centers Operations, and Field Operations. These work groups provide
customer service support, service provisioning and installation, and network
monitoring for NuVox and its rapidly growing customer base. A 30-year veteran
of the telecommunications industry, Pitts had been serving as NuVox's Vice
President of Centers Operations. He joined the company in May 2000 as Senior
Vice President of Network Integration and Provisioning.

During his career, Pitts held positions of increasing responsibility with
BellCore and BellSouth. He served as the General Manager of Network Operations
for BellSouth in Upstate South Carolina from 1999-2000. He managed a variety of
functions, including installation, provisioning, maintenance, construction,
Central Office operations and engineering. Prior to that position, Pitts served
as Regional Director of Network Systems Support overseeing network operating
system platforms, performance contracts and software security. From 1994 to
1997, he was Regional Director of Network Reliability and Systems Support,
which included supervision of the Regional Emergency Control Center and
Disaster Recovery Operations. Pitts also worked as Director of Technical Staff
for BellCore from 1987 to 1989.
Pitts received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from
LaSalle University.
