NuVox Communications Surpasses 100,000 Lines Sold

St. Louis, MO (July 16, 2001) - NuVox Communications, a rapidly growing,
facilities-based integrated communications provider, announced today that
during the 2nd Quarter 2001 it exceeded 100,000 lines sold, achieving this
significant milestone in just under two years since the company began offering
its services to customers in St. Louis, its first city. NuVox is now fully
operational in 30 cities throughout 13 Midwestern and Southeastern states.

This accomplishment signifies the growing demand for full service, integrated
voice and data communication services from small and medium-sized businesses.
In addition, it illustrates the strong appeal of NuVox and its broad product
line of fully bundled and a la carte offerings, all supported by personalized
and attentive customer service.

"Clearly, our customers are looking for attractive alternatives for local, data
and Internet services, and reaching the 100,000 line mark demonstrates that
NuVox delivers, both in terms of services offered and value gained," said
NuVox President and COO Mike Cassity. "Selling 100,000 lines is also indicative
of the great momentum the NuVox team has built over the past two years, and it
further demonstrates the validity of our current business plan."

Cassity noted that business customers have been extremely receptive to services
offered either on an individual, customized basis or on a total solution, fully
bundled platform. He indicated this approach gives customers the ability to get
exactly the services they require at a price point that also suits their needs.
Cassity also said reaching this milestone marks a very significant
accomplishment for the 1,100 plus NuVox employees who remain committed to
delivering both the services and the customer service each customer demands.

"To have reached this level of lines sold in just less than two years
represents a truly remarkable effort by our sales team and everyone at NuVox,"
said Mike Morey, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing. "We're all very
excited that delivering the NuVox brand of savings, simplicity and solutions
has been so well received by our customers. Going forward, we expect our growth
to continue at a very healthy pace as more customers realize the value of our
wide, yet expanding product line."
