NuVox Enhances Service with Addition of Junk E-mail Filter; Mail Patrol
Available to All NuVox E-Mail Customers at No Charge
ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 2003--NuVox Communications, a rapidly
growing, facilities-based integrated communications provider, has launched Mail
Patrol, its new junk e-mail filter. Mail Patrol is available to all NuVox
e-mail customers at no charge.
With Mail Patrol, NuVox e-mail customers can divert unwanted messages from
their Inboxes, saving them time and money while reducing frustration. Any
message flagged as "spam" will be stored in a special folder where it may be
reviewed at the customer's convenience. Customers may also define whether or
not e-mail from certain e-mail addresses will be accepted into their Inboxes or
automatically deleted.
"Being connected to the Internet means fighting escalating spam attacks every
day," said Randy McDougald, vice president of marketing for NuVox. "Businesses
don't have time to deal with this nuisance. Through Mail Patrol, NuVox helps
small and medium-sized businesses diminish the detrimental impact of this
unwanted bulk e-mail, enabling customers to focus on their goals."
NuVox has partnered with Active State, a division of Sophos, the leading
provider of virus and spam software solutions, to develop an effective e-mail
filtering application for its customers.
"Active State's reputation for premier support, its use of open source
technologies, and its commitment to stay at the forefront of this technology
were all reasons we chose the PureMessage product," said Gary Merck, NuVox's
associate vice president of data engineering. "The flexibility of PureMessage
enabled it to fit well within our environment, providing us with a powerful,
proven foundation for our application."
