Beaufort County-- from the top 100 to the top 10 Best Places to Retire

Hilton Head and Beaufort City, SC have long been rated in the top 100 best art towns by a book of the same name, by John Villani. Now, the new 4th edition of America's 100 Best Places to Retire, has rated both Hilton Head and Beaufort in their top 10: Hilton Head scored as a best beach town, and Beaufort as an art town. The Arts Council of Beaufort County congratulates both communities.

The book's top choices are 100 of the best cities and towns that have been featured in Where to Retire magazine. Edited by Elizabeth Armstrong, the book covers topics that are important to today's retirees, from population figures and climate information to tax rates, housing costs and health care options. Every year, over 700,000 people move to a new town for retirement. Beyond facts and figures, the community profiles uncover the character of each locale. The writers conducted candid interviews with relocated retirees from each community and asked them to shed light on retirement living in their new hometown. The result is accurate and reliable information presented with a personal touch. Other categories include Best Budget Towns, Best Lake Towns, Best Undiscovered Towns, and Best Main Street Towns.
