SC Women's Business Center Offers Marketing Assistance Workshop

The South Carolina Women's Business Center is sponsoring a workshop designed to
help businesses capitalize on being Woman Owned. The workshop will be held
from 9 am to 12 noon on Tuesday , April 20 at Central Carolina
Technical College.

Research shows that there is a strong commitment by government and business to
provide Woman Owned Businesses (WOBs) a fair chance at business
opportunities. In many cases the government agency or business has
initiatives, programs and/or personnel to aid the WOB in the vendor process.
Businesses refer to their efforts and programs for Woman and Minority Owned
Businesses as Supplier or Vendor Diversity Policies. Governments have
requirements or targets for the amount of business their Agencies award to WOBs
and they offer Tax Credits to Prime Contractors who use WOBs as Subcontractors.

The workshop will include such topics as: Identifying and qualifying prospects
that benefit from using WOBs, marketing and sales strategies that leverage the
WOB status, Examples of ''rules of engagement'' for doing business with some
specific establishments and agencies, certifications and registrations – what's
necessary, what helps and what is a waste, and other critical ''How To''
information.

The registration fee is $45. Interested persons can register on the SC Women's

Janet Christy will be conducting the workshop. Christy is President of South
Carolina based consulting firm Leverage & Development, LLC. The firm develops
customized marketing plans and conducts specialized workshops for Woman and
Minority Owned Business. The firm also works with government; education and
non-profits in grant writing, economic development projects and vendor
negotiation.
