In the aftermath of September 11, the goals and mission of the South Carolina
Biotechnology Association to promote and encourage development of biotechnology
initiatives in South Carolina pale when it comes to the protection of our
country, our freedom, our citizens, and our American way of life against
terrorism. We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of the victims, and
to the American citizens we say – do not be afraid – good will triumph over
evil. This is a time of great sorrow and even greater commitment to our
nation, the principles upon which it was founded, our Creator, our faith, our
family, to each other and to the future. To this end we will not be deterred –
we will persevere – we will prevail. The pursuit of the mission of
Biotechnology for our State is even more compelling . . . to combat disease,
disability and disaster.
