Regional Venture Capital Survey
USC Moore School of Business Surveying the Equity Community in the Carolinas and Georgia

By Tony Smith, Sr. Manager, Business Solutions, SC Department of Commmerce

The Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina is conducting a survey on the equity community within a three state region. The purpose is to track their 2005 investments preferences and where those investments occurred in the Carolinas and Georgia.

With the survey materials, the Moore School will develop a report that provides an investment overview of the equity and mezzanine debt investments in the region. It will also act as a profile of each investment group active in the region and include a targeted focus on South Carolina’s investment performance. This report will update and expand upon the 2004 South Carolina Investment Report.

Items studied in the survey also include investments involving:
• Federal grants;
• Innovations from centers of research;
• Patented technology; and
• Advanced degrees within companies.

The Moore School of Business encourages all eligible candidates to participate. Please visit the on-line survey at http://research.moore.sc.edu/scinvest2005.htm. Eligible participants must complete the survey by March 3, 2006.

Partnering with the Moore School of Business on this report are the South Carolina Investor Network and the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
