In the new 2008 edition of its annual book, "Best 366 Colleges”, the Princeton Review described the College of Charleston in the following way:

“The College of Charleston, ‘a small school set in a charming Southern town,’ is a public school that creates ‘a private school atmosphere.’ The school offers ‘challenging academic programs,’ ‘small classes,’ and ‘highly qualified professors’—all in a fun and innovative environment.”

The Princeton Review also gave the College a “quality of life” rating of 91 out of 100 and ranked the school #17 nationally in the category of “Great College Towns”.

The ranking lists in the 2008 edition of "Best 366 Colleges" are based on The Princeton Review's survey of 120,000 students (about 325 per campus on average) attending the 366 colleges in the book. A college's appearance on these lists is attributable to a high consensus among its surveyed students about the subject. Only about 15% of the four-year colleges in America and two Canadian colleges were chosen for the college guide.
