Charlotte based company plans move to downtown Columbia, South Carolina first quarter 2007.

COLUMBIA, October 12, 2006: YRT2 Inc., which provides fully integrated digital home services, has selected Columbia, SC as its location for its corporate headquarters. Columbia beat out Dallas and Atlanta for its new home and plans to move into their newly renovated offices by early 2007. Keith Johnson YRT2 President & CEO, said, “This location is strategic. The South Carolina marketplace is poised for dramatic growth over the next decade and YRT2 wants to be centered in that growth.” Some of America’s top homebuilders are leading the way by launching newly built ‘smart’ communities that
serve homeowners utilizing YRT2’ s superior fiber products to give its customers the latest in digital phone, HDTV, high speed Internet, and security systems. By 2015, YRT2will be positioned to provide these same services to existing home developments.

About the headquarters

Columbia will be the home for YRT2 and will house the top executives for the company. This location is not only a great opportunity for YRT2 to infiltrate the southeastern market but it is also an asset to the downtown community’s urban renaissance movement. The downtown area has been experiencing revitalization and YRT2 saw no better place and time than here and now. When asked what this move to Columbia means for the downtown area, Matt Kennell, President and CEO of the City Center Partnership said that, “YRT2's decision is significant for downtown because they could have chosen to locate anywhere, but selected a location in the heart of Columbia's creative district, surrounded by arts and culture, cutting edge technology, downtown residents, and employees. The location celebrates Columbia's heritage, but looks very much to the future of our city as a walkable place, where employees, residents and visitors can work and mingle comfortably… YRT2 is the future, as is Columbia.” YRT2 is conscious of the impact that it will have on the continued downtown revival. “The city of Columbia has been so welcoming and eager to help us at every turn. We could immediately tell that this was the place we wanted to be. With the strong technical education system, the location, and the hospitality we received, Columbia was the clear choice when it came to our decision about where to locate our corporate headquarters,” said YRT2 CEO Keith Johnson.

Benefits of the move

YRT2 chose Columbia for a number of reasons, one being the strong technological school and university system. The University of South Carolina and Midlands Technical College both have much to offer and much to gain from YRT2 relocating to the area. YRT2 will hopefully retain South Carolina’s best and brightest tech students in the area instead of seeing them relocate to places out of state. Currently, YRT2 employs nearly 100 people. By 2007 that number will double with at least half being engineers and technicians with about half in South Carolina. By 2008 YRT2 will employ over 400 people. YRT2 will need the tech workforce to implement and service its technologies in new home developments. Creating these jobs in the area is a welcome benefit to the community.
